# Turn a conversation with an AI assistant into daily practice

**Connected Agents** is an optional feature for connecting an outside AI assistant to Futurecast. An agent is an AI assistant that can do tasks for you.

You choose the access it gets. You do not need to connect an assistant to use Futurecast.

<a id="why-connect-an-assistant"></a>

## Why connect an assistant?

You do not have to organize every thought before making a board. Tell your assistant what is going on in your life. Share what you are working toward, what feels difficult, and what you want to change. It can help turn those thoughts into a board and a few futures.

A **board** is a group of futures about a topic. A **future** is a short statement you return to during practice.

For example, you could say:

> I'm starting a new job. I know my work, but I hold back in meetings and replay small mistakes afterward. Help me turn this into a Futurecast board. Suggest a name, a short intention, and five futures. Show me the words before you save them. Keep it text-only.

Your assistant might suggest a board called **Confidence at work**, with futures such as:

- "I speak up when I have something to add."
- "I trust the work I have done."
- "I learn from one moment and move to the next."

You can change the words together. Then ask it to save the version you like. This saves you from copying each future into the app by hand.

## Choose how to connect

| You want to use | Start with |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT, including a personal development project | [Connect ChatGPT](https://futurecastapp.com/help/agents-chatgpt) |
| Claude, including a personal development project | [Connect Claude](https://futurecastapp.com/help/agents-claude) |
| A terminal, scripts, or an assistant that can run commands on your computer | [Use the Futurecast CLI](https://futurecastapp.com/help/agents-cli) |

ChatGPT and Claude use a **connector**, which is a connection that lets an assistant work with another app. They may call it an app or plugin. Setup starts in that service. You approve access in Futurecast.

The **CLI**, or command-line interface, lets you control Futurecast by typing commands. It is useful for repeatable tasks and deeper integrations. It is optional.

## Use a personal development project

If you already keep goals or personal notes in a ChatGPT or Claude project, use that context to shape your futures.

1. Connect Futurecast using the guide for your assistant.
2. Open the project and the conversation you want to use.
3. Make Futurecast available in that conversation, as shown in the setup guide.
4. Ask the assistant to use specific notes or parts of the conversation.
5. Review its suggested board and futures.
6. Ask it to save the version you approve.

For example:

> Use the goals and notes available in this project to suggest one Futurecast board for my daily practice. Tell me which notes you used. If you cannot see the notes I mean, ask me to share them. Write a short board intention and five futures in my voice. Show me the draft first. After I approve, save those words in Futurecast. Do not make images, delete anything, or change my Daily Ritual.

A **board intention** is a short note about what the board is for. It also helps Futurecast suggest new futures for that board.

Connecting Futurecast does not make every past chat available to your assistant. Share the notes you want it to use if they are missing from the conversation. If the project does not offer the connection, put a short summary in a new conversation where Futurecast is available.

## Let your assistant help with setup

Give your assistant the [Futurecast assistant setup guide](https://futurecastapp.com/help/agents/setup-and-use). It explains how to check its tools, choose a connection, and guide you through approval.

You can copy the guide's text into a chat or attach the file if your assistant accepts files. If you are reading a published web copy, you can share that page's link. Use this message with it:

> Read this Futurecast setup guide. Help me connect using the tools available to you. Explain any steps I need to do myself. Start with access to read and create text. Leave image access off. Check the connection without changing my library. Then help me turn a conversation into a board. Do not say it is connected or saved until you have checked the result.

An assistant with access to a terminal can help with the CLI. An assistant inside a chat may need you to open its connector settings. You still approve the connection in Futurecast yourself.

## Connect an assistant

First follow the [ChatGPT](https://futurecastapp.com/help/agents-chatgpt), [Claude](https://futurecastapp.com/help/agents-claude), or [CLI](https://futurecastapp.com/help/agents-cli) guide until Futurecast shows a pairing code in your browser. A pairing code links that connection request to your app. Keep the browser page open.

1. Open Futurecast.
2. Tap **Today** and open your profile.
3. Tap **Connected Agents**.
4. Tap **Pair an Agent**.
5. Enter the code shown in your browser.
6. Tap **Continue**.
7. Check the assistant's name and the access it requests.
8. Choose which permissions to allow.
9. Tap **Approve** to connect, or **Decline** to stop.
10. When you see **Connected**, return to the browser to finish.

A pairing link or the browser page's QR code can take you straight to this flow. Review the assistant's name and permissions there too. The code expires after five minutes.

If the code is invalid or expired, return to the assistant for a new connection request. If a connection error appears, check your internet connection and follow the message.

<a id="understand-the-permissions"></a>

## Understand the permissions

**Read** lets the assistant see your futures and boards.

**Write** lets it create, change, organize, and delete futures and boards. Deleted items move to [Recently Deleted](https://futurecastapp.com/help/account-deleted), where you can restore them for 30 days. Choose this access only if you want the assistant to make these changes.

**Visions** lets it generate AI images. This spends your Visions, which are your image allowance.

For the text-board examples above, allow **Read** and **Write**. Leave **Visions** off. You can still add your own voice or images later in the app.

The assistant can only use the permissions you approve. Its own service may also ask you to confirm an action.

<a id="find-what-your-assistant-created"></a>

## Find what your assistant created

Changes wait for your iPhone to apply them. **Queued** means the request is waiting. It does not mean the board or future is already saved in your library.

1. Open Futurecast on your iPhone and keep it online.
2. Give the pending changes time to finish.
3. Ask your assistant to check the result of its request.
4. When it reports **applied**, open **Boards** and find the board.
5. Read the futures. Add [your voice](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-recording) if you want to hear them aloud.
6. [Choose the board for your Daily Ritual](https://futurecastapp.com/help/practice-daily-ritual#use-a-board) when you want it in your daily practice.

Creating text does not itself record your voice or start playback. A new board is not proof that your Daily Ritual selection has changed. Check the name beside **Focused on** in Today.

If the request failed, ask the assistant to explain the result before trying again. It may need you to open the app, change a paused board, or review your plan's board limit. Avoid sending the same creation request again while the first is still waiting.

<a id="check-access"></a>

## Check access

1. Open Profile > **Connected Agents**.
2. Tap an assistant.
3. Read the **Can** section to see its permissions.
4. Read **Recent Actions** to see work it has requested or completed.

An action that is waiting or failed is not the same as a completed change. Read the status shown beside it.

If the list will not load, use **Try Again** after checking your connection.

<a id="hide-a-board"></a>

## Hide a board

**Hide from Agents** keeps a board and its futures out of the library shared with connected assistants. This setting appears after you connect an assistant, or when a board is already hidden.

1. Tap **Boards**.
2. Open the board.
3. Tap the three-dot menu.
4. Tap **Board Settings**.
5. Under **Privacy**, turn on **Hide from Agents**.

You can also find this control in a board's long-press menu. Leave Futurecast online so the change can reach connected services.

Turn it off in the same place if you want to make the board available again. This setting does not close a public board share link. Use [Stop Sharing](https://futurecastapp.com/help/account-sharing#stop-sharing) for that.

<a id="disconnect"></a>

## Disconnect

1. Open Profile > **Connected Agents**.
2. Tap the assistant.
3. Tap **Disconnect Agent**.
4. Read the message.
5. Tap **Disconnect**.

This stops that connection from using Futurecast. Your futures and boards stay in the app.

If **Couldn't disconnect** appears, the change has not been confirmed. Check your connection and retry. Contact support if it keeps failing.
