# Keep your library in iCloud

**iCloud Sync** keeps your futures, boards, photos, and recordings up to date across your devices. Turning it on requires Futurecast+.

A change or deletion can also reach your other synced devices. A [separate backup file](https://futurecastapp.com/help/account-backup) gives you a copy you can keep outside this ongoing sync.

## Turn on iCloud Sync

1. Tap **Today**.
2. Open your profile.
3. Under **Backup & Sync**, turn on **iCloud Sync**.
4. Read the **Starting iCloud Sync** message.
5. Tap **Continue**.
6. Let Futurecast finish setup.

If iOS closes the app during setup, reopen Futurecast. Setup continues when it opens.

Return to Profile to check the status below **iCloud Sync**. A switch that is on does not mean every item has finished syncing.

## Read the status

**Syncing...** means work is still in progress.

**Last synced** shows when a sync last finished.

**Sync paused** means sync is waiting. Read the rest of the line to find the reason.

## If sync is paused

- **No internet connection:** reconnect to the internet. Use the retry arrow if it appears.
- **Turn on iCloud in Settings:** tap the warning symbol and use **Open Settings**. Follow the message, then reopen Futurecast.
- **Storage is full:** review the storage message. After you have enough free space, reopen Futurecast.
- **Starts after you reopen Futurecast:** close and reopen the app once.
- **iCloud account changed:** check that you are using the account you intended. Contact support before moving data between accounts if you are unsure.

## Turn off iCloud Sync

Futurecast saves a local copy on this iPhone before it turns sync off. A local copy is data stored on this phone.

1. Open Profile.
2. Under **Backup & Sync**, turn off **iCloud Sync**.
3. Read the message, then tap **Continue**.
4. Choose **Export Backup** to save an extra backup file. Or choose **Skip Backup** to continue with the local copy only.
5. Keep Futurecast open while it saves the local copy.
6. Follow the completion message. Reopen the app if it asks you to.

If you choose **Export Backup**, finish saving the file when the share sheet opens.

If saving fails, read the message before leaving. Futurecast may keep sync on until it can finish protecting the local copy.

## If setup needs help

A setup problem can open a recovery screen.

1. Read the problem shown there.
2. Tap **Try Again Now** to restart the setup attempt.
3. If the screen asks you to reopen, tap **Close and Reopen App** and follow its instructions.
4. For more help, tap **Need Help**.

In **Need Help**, you can choose **Send to Support**. Review the prepared message and its sync details before sending. **Copy Support Code** copies a code you can include when contacting support.

**Keep Using Local Data** leaves the recovery flow and cancels the pending cloud recovery merge. Use it if you want to continue with the data already on this phone. It does not mean the missing cloud library has been restored.

When setup reports completion, tap **Continue** to return to the app.
