# Write or edit a future

A **future** is a short statement you want to return to. It can be a goal, a prayer, or words that help you focus. Images and voice are optional.

For example: "I speak clearly and trust what I have to say."

## Make a future with words

1. Tap the app's **Create** button.
2. Tap **New Future**.
3. Type your words in the field that starts with **I am...**.
4. Tap **Text Only**.
5. Read the preview. Tap the words or **Text** to change them, then tap **Done** to finish typing.
6. Check the board choice above the tools. Use **Boards** to change it.
7. Tap **Save** at the top right to save the future.

The preview uses the same layout as **Edit Future**, with **Text**, **Voice**, **Vision**, and **Boards** tools. **Done** finishes typing; **Save** saves the future. If you close the preview, choose **Keep Editing** to return or **Discard** to leave without saving.

To create directly on a board, open **Boards**, then your board. Tap **+** or **Add Futures**, then **Write your own**. Use the same steps to write and save.

Your words are enough for a complete future. You can [add an image](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-images) or [record your voice](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-recording) later.

## Make another future

On the new future's preview, tap **+ New** at the top right.

This saves the current future and opens a fresh text field. It does not generate another picture for the same future.

## Change the words

1. Open **Boards**, then your board or **All Futures**.
2. Press and hold the future.
3. Choose **Edit Future**.
4. Tap **Text** to open the keyboard.
5. Change the words.
6. Tap **Done** at the top right to finish typing.
7. Tap **Save** to save the future.

You can also open a future in the player, tap the **three dots**, then choose **Edit Future**.

If you close the editor with changes, **Keep Editing** returns to your work. **Discard Changes** leaves your saved text unchanged.

## Improve the wording

**Polish** asks Futurecast to suggest a revised version of your words.

1. Open the future's editor.
2. Tap **Text > Polish**.
3. Read the revised words.
4. Tap **Original** or **Polished** to choose the version you want.
5. Tap **Done** to finish editing, then **Save** to save your edit.

**Already great** means the app has no change to offer.

Polish is also available while writing a new future, once there is text to work with.

## Get other ideas

**Suggest** offers other ways to express your future.

1. Open the future's editor.
2. Tap **Text > Suggest**.
3. Scroll across the suggestions and tap one to put its words in your draft.
4. Tap **Done** to finish editing.
5. Tap **Save** to save your edit.

Tap **Original** if you prefer your original words.

To keep an idea as a separate future, press and hold the suggestion, then tap **Save as new future**. This saves a new text-only future without replacing your original.

## Check the voice after changing text

Changing words does not make an old recording say something new.

If Futurecast warns that the voice may not match, listen to it. Then [record the new words](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-recording#change-or-remove-a-recording) or [regenerate the AI voice](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-ai-voice#add-your-ai-voice-to-a-future).

## Copy the words

1. Open the future in the player.
2. Tap the **three dots**.
3. Tap **Copy Text**.
4. Paste the words wherever you need them.

## Choose a board for your new future

Futurecast suggests where to save your new future. Above the tools, **In [board name]** shows one selected board, **In [number] boards** shows several, and **No board yet** means none is selected. A suggestion can also say **picked for this future**. If you start from a board, that board is selected.

1. On the preview, tap **Boards**.
2. Scroll across the board tiles. A checkmark marks a selected board.
3. Tap a board to select it, or tap a selected board to remove it. You can choose several boards.
4. To make a board, tap **New** at the end of the row and finish creating it. The new board is selected and stays saved even if you discard the future.
5. Tap the **back arrow** to return to the tools.
6. Tap **Save** to save the future on the selected boards.

Tapping a paused board can open a screen to choose active boards or view Plus.

If a selected board becomes unavailable when you save, tap **Choose Board** to return to **Boards**, or **Save Without It** or **Save Without Them** to save without the unavailable boards.

If you leave every board unselected, the saved future stays in **All Futures**. Board choices for this future take effect when you save it. Your own board choice stays selected when you change the words.
