# Add or change an image

An image is optional. Your future works with words alone.

An **AI Vision** is an image made by artificial intelligence from your future and your choices. **My Likeness** means using photos of you to help the image look like you. A generated image may not get every detail right.

<a id="add-an-ai-image"></a>

## Add an AI image

1. Open **Boards** and find your future.
2. Tap **Add Image** on the future, or press and hold it and choose **Add Image**.
3. If **Featuring** appears, check who is selected. Tap the names to change them.
4. Choose **AI Vision** or **My Likeness**, whichever appears.
5. If asked, read the AI information and make your choice about using it.
6. Add [reference photos](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-personalization#add-photos-of-yourself) if Futurecast needs them.
7. Follow any allowance message, then wait for the image.

To start a new future with an AI image, use **Create > New Future**, write your words, and choose **AI Vision** or **My Likeness**. Finish by tapping **Save** at the top right.

For a future generated on a board, **Featuring** may already have a saved person or pet selected. Your board intention can help shape these suggestions, but each future has its own choices. Check them before making the image. See [include people and pets in board futures](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-personalization#include-people-and-pets-in-board-futures).

A **Vision** is also the unit the app uses for an AI image request. Check your available Visions before generating or editing an AI image. These actions can use your allowance. Rejecting a result does not mean the request was free.

## Use your own photo

For a new future:

1. Tap **Create > New Future**.
2. Write your future.
3. Tap **Photo > Photo Upload**.
4. Choose a photo.
5. On **Position Photo**, choose **Whole** to show the full photo or **Fill** to cover the screen. Drag to move it or pinch to zoom, then tap **Done**.
6. Tap **Save** at the top right to save the future.

For a saved future, open **Edit Future > Vision > Upload**. Choose a photo, position it, then tap **Done** and **Save**.

A photo you choose is used as the future's image. This is different from adding reference photos, which help AI create a new image.

<a id="position-the-photo"></a>

## Position the photo

On **Position Photo**:

1. Tap **Whole** to show the full photo over a blurred background, or **Fill** to cover the screen.
2. Drag to choose what stays in view. Pinch to zoom, up to three times the Fill size.
3. Tap **Done**.

For a saved photo future, open **Edit Future > Vision > Position**, adjust the photo, then tap **Done** and **Save**. While making a new future, tap **Vision > Position**, then adjust the photo and tap **Done**. Tap **Save** at the top right to save the new future. This control is for your own uploaded photos, not AI images or gallery images.

The lock screen Now Playing artwork does not use your saved photo position.

<a id="choose-an-image-from-the-gallery"></a>

## Choose an image from the gallery

**Futurecast Gallery** is a collection of ready-made images.

1. Open **Edit Future**.
2. Tap **Vision > Gallery**.
3. Browse the images, or use **Search**.
4. Tap the filter icon to show categories. Choose **All** to clear the category choice.
5. Tap the image you want.
6. Tap **Save** to save the future.

For a new future, the route is **Photo > Futurecast Gallery**. After choosing an image, tap **Save**.

If a **Yours** tab appears, it holds images from your own history. See [Reuse an image](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-image-history#reuse-an-image).

<a id="ask-for-image-changes"></a>

## Ask for image changes

AI changes use your image allowance. Describe the result you want before sending the request.

1. Open the saved future's **Edit Future** screen.
2. Tap **Vision > Describe**.
3. Type a clear request, such as "Put me in a bright office with a window behind me."
4. Tap the **send arrow**.
5. Wait for the preview.
6. Tap **Keep new vision** to accept it, or **Discard** to reject it.
7. Tap **Save** to save accepted changes.

While previewing a new AI future, tap **Vision > Describe**. Accept the image preview with its **checkmark**, then tap **Save** to save the future.

<a id="generate-a-different-image"></a>

## Generate a different image

1. Open **Edit Future > Vision**.
2. Tap **New**.
3. Wait for the result.
4. Tap **Keep new vision** to accept it, or **Discard** to reject it.
5. Tap **Save** to save the accepted image.

This makes a new AI request for the future. It can use another Vision. In a new AI future's preview, use **Vision > New**, then tap **Save** to save the future.

<a id="choose-a-photo-style"></a>

## Choose a photo style

Each board has a **Photo Style** for its AI images.

- **Cinematic**: golden light and soft backgrounds, like a film still. Boards start with this style.
- **Candid**: real moments, like a friend took the photo on their phone.

1. Open the board.
2. Tap the **three dots**, then **Board Settings**.
3. Under **Images**, tap **Photo Style**.
4. Tap **Cinematic** or **Candid**, then tap **Done**.

The style applies to new AI images on that board, including **Vision > New** and **Reimagine**. Images you already have stay as they are. A future that is not on a board uses Cinematic. When a future is on more than one board, open it from the board whose style you want before you make a new image.

Both styles use one Vision per image request.

## Show words instead of the image

1. Open **Edit Future > More**.
2. Tap **Show as text card**.
3. Tap **Save**.

This keeps the image attached. To show it again, use **More > Show vision** and save.

<a id="remove-an-image"></a>

## Remove an image

1. Open **Edit Future > Vision**.
2. Tap **Remove**.
3. Confirm **Remove**.
4. Tap **Save**.

Your future's words stay. To keep the image but hide it, use **More > Show as text card** instead.

While previewing a new future, tap **Vision > Remove**, then tap **Save** to save the future without its image.

<a id="save-an-image-to-photos"></a>

## Save an image to Photos

1. Open the future in the player.
2. Tap the **three dots > Save to Photos**.
3. Choose **Save Image** for the image alone, or **Save with Words** for the image with your future's words.
4. Allow Futurecast to add to Photos if asked.

A text-only future saves as a picture of its text card.

In **Edit Future**, open **More** and choose **Download image** for the image alone or **Download with words** to include your future's words.

If permission was denied, use **Open Settings** in the alert to allow access, then return and save again.

<a id="share-a-single-future"></a>

## Share a single future

1. Open the future in the player.
2. Tap the **three dots > Share**.
3. Choose an app or person in the iPhone share sheet.
4. Check the destination and send it.

This shares a picture of the future, including its words. It does not send its voice clip or give someone a live link to your board. Review the image before sending it, especially if it shows personal photos or other people.

You can also use **More > Share** in the future editor. To share a playable board link, see [Share a board](https://futurecastapp.com/help/account-sharing).

<a id="if-an-image-does-not-appear"></a>

## If an image does not appear

Keep the future's words. You do not need to delete the future to fix an image problem.

- If it is still being made, give it time to finish.
- If **Retry** appears, read the message before using it. Do not assume a new AI request is free.
- If you have no Visions left, use words, a photo, or the gallery while you review the choices in the app.
- If a message says someone needed for the image is unavailable, check [People & Pets](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-personalization). Restore an archived person or choose who should appear in a new image.
- If the image is in your history, [restore a previous image](https://futurecastapp.com/help/create-image-history#bring-back-a-previous-image).

For a repeated failure, use [Help & Support](https://futurecastapp.com/help/account-support). Keep the message that appeared so support can understand the problem.
