# Record your voice on a future

A voice recording lets you hear your future in your own words and voice. You record each future yourself. You do not need to set up a Voice Clone for this.

Find a quiet place before recording. Speak at a comfortable pace.

## Record your future

1. Open **Boards** and find the future.
2. Press and hold it, then choose **Edit Future**.
3. Tap **Voice**, then **Record**.
4. Allow microphone access if asked.
5. If the recorder shows a microphone button, tap it to begin. Start speaking when the timer runs.
6. Read your future aloud.
7. Tap the **stop square** when you finish.
8. Tap **Play** to listen back.
9. Tap **Use this take** to keep it.
10. Tap **Save** to save the future.

The timer shows the recording limit. If you reach it, recording stops. Review the recording that was captured before deciding whether to keep it.

## Record from the player

2. Tap the **three dots > Record Audio**.
3. Tap the microphone to start if the timer has not started.

The player may say **Re-record Audio** when the future already has audio.

## Change or remove a recording

Recording again replaces the audio on that future when you save. It does not create a second voice track.

1. Open **Edit Future > Voice**.
2. Tap **Re-record**. This also replaces an AI voice.
3. Record and review the new audio.
4. Tap **Use this take**.
5. Tap **Save**.

To remove the audio, open **Edit Future > Voice > Remove**, then tap **Save**. The future's words and image stay.

To discard an unsaved recording in **Edit Future**, tap **Redo** in its preview. Tap the microphone when you are ready to record again.

When creating a new future, tap **Redo** to discard its recording preview. Tap the microphone when you are ready to record again. Keep the new take with the recording checkmark, then tap **Save** to save the future.

In the player's recorder, the curved arrow starts a replacement recording right away. Start speaking when its timer runs. Listen to the replacement before saving it.

Use an **x** to cancel only when that button is shown. It is not shown in every recording preview.

## Export the audio

Exporting gives you an audio file you can save or share outside Futurecast.

1. Open the future in the player.
2. Tap the **three dots > Export Audio**.
3. Choose **Save to Files**, or choose an app from the iPhone share sheet.
4. Select a destination and finish saving or sending.

**Export Audio** appears only when the future has audio. The file contains that future's voice clip. Review it before sharing personal words or your voice.

## If recording does not start

If microphone access is off, use **Open Settings** in the permission alert. Allow Futurecast to use the microphone, then return to the recording screen.

If the timer still does not start, cancel the recording screen and open it again. Keep your saved future. You do not need to delete it.

If you changed the future's text, record the new words too. Editing text does not change an older recording.

## Record while previewing a new future

The preview uses the same layout as **Edit Future**.

1. In the new future's preview, tap **Voice**.
2. Tap the **microphone**, then allow access if asked. Start speaking when the timer runs.
3. Read your future aloud, then tap the **stop square**.
4. Tap **play** to listen back.
5. Tap **Redo** to discard the take, then tap the microphone to record again. Or tap the recording **checkmark** to keep it.
6. Tap **Save** at the top right to save the new future with its recording.

The recording checkmark keeps the take in your draft. It does not save the new future.

## Record your voice for a whole board

**Record Them Myself** takes you through the board's futures that need audio, one at a time. It leaves futures with saved audio alone and skips ones whose voice is still being made. You do not need a Voice Clone or Plus to start. Each take can last up to 30 seconds on the free plan or 12 minutes with Plus.

1. Open **Boards**, then your board. You can also open your **Daily Ritual**.
2. Tap the **three dots > Record Them Myself**. The option appears when there are futures without audio.
3. Tap the **record button** and allow microphone access if asked. Start speaking when the timer runs.
4. Read the future aloud, then tap the **stop square**. Recording also stops at the limit shown before you begin.
5. Tap **Listen** to review the take. To replace it, tap **Redo**, then tap the record button again.
6. Tap **Next** to save the take and move to the next future. On the last future, tap **Finish** to save and close.

The **[number] of [number]** count shows your place. **Skip** moves on without saving the current take. **Done** ends the session early. If a take is waiting, choose **Save and Close**, **Discard Take**, or **Keep Going**. Takes you already saved stay saved.

If saving fails, your take stays on screen. Tap **Try Again** to save it again, or **Listen** to review it. If microphone access is off, tap **Open Settings**, allow access, return, and tap the record button.
