Connect Claude to Futurecast
Use Claude to turn what is on your mind into a daily practice.
Use Claude to turn what is on your mind into a daily practice. Tell it about a goal, a hard week, or a change you want to make. It can suggest boards and futures, then send the ones you choose to Futurecast.
A board holds a group of futures. A future is a short line you want to practice, such as "I speak up even when I feel nervous."
Claude calls this connection a custom connector. It uses MCP, a way for an AI assistant to work with another app.
Before you start
Have Futurecast ready on your iPhone. Keep it connected to the internet.
Claude supports custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Free accounts can have one custom connector. Team and Enterprise accounts need an Owner to add it first. Claude's custom connector guide.
Start on Claude's website or Claude Desktop. Mobile setup is in beta. Connections made on web or desktop are available when you next sign in to the same Claude account on iOS or Android. Claude's connector guide.
1. Add Futurecast in Claude
For a personal account:
-
Open Claude and go to Customize > Connectors.
-
Select +, then Add custom connector.
-
Name it Futurecast.
-
Paste this into Remote MCP server URL:
https://api.futurecastapp.com/mcp -
If the form has one screen, leave the optional client ID and secret empty. Select Add.
-
If it has two screens, continue to the connection settings. Use the choices below, then select Add.
-
Select Connect for Futurecast if Claude asks you to connect separately.
In the two-screen form:
- Authentication: choose Always required. You will approve access in Futurecast.
- OAuth client: choose the option that starts No client ID and says to register one automatically. This lets Claude register its connection with Futurecast.
- Leave secrets and request headers empty. Keep the transport detected from the URL.
OAuth is the approval process that connects your account. You do not need an API key or a developer account for this route. Futurecast supports automatic client registration.
Claude is rolling out both forms. Claude's field-by-field setup guide.
If you use Claude Team or Enterprise
An Owner or Primary Owner adds the connector first:
- Open Organization settings > Connectors.
- Select Add > Custom > Web.
- Enter the Futurecast address above. Use the same connection settings.
- Select Add.
Each person then opens Customize > Connectors, finds Futurecast, and selects Connect. Each person approves access to their own Futurecast app. Claude's organization setup steps.
2. Approve the connection on your iPhone
A Futurecast page opens in your browser. It shows a code that expires after five minutes. Keep this page open.
- On your iPhone, open Futurecast.
- Tap Today, then open your profile.
- Open Connected Agents > Pair an Agent.
- Enter the browser's code and tap Continue.
- Check the assistant's name and requested access.
- Choose the permissions you want. Read lets Claude see your available boards and futures. Write also lets it create, change, organize, and delete them. Leave Visions off if you only want words. Visions allows image generation using your image allowance.
- Tap Approve. Use Decline if you do not want to connect.
- When Futurecast shows Connected, return to the browser. Let it finish returning you to Claude.
You can also scan the browser's QR code with your iPhone camera. On your iPhone, Approve in Futurecast can open the approval flow directly. Review the same name and permissions there.
Read more about permissions and hiding private boards.
3. Check that Claude can use Futurecast
- Open a Claude chat.
- Select + > Connectors and turn on Futurecast for that conversation.
- Send the message below.
Check my Futurecast connection and list my board names. Do not create, change, or delete anything.
Review any tool approval Claude shows before continuing. A tool is an action Claude can take through the connection. Claude's conversation controls.
If you are starting fresh, an empty board list can be correct. If Claude says it cannot use Futurecast, check that the connector is connected and enabled in this chat.
This checks that Claude can read your library. To check all the access you granted, open Futurecast Profile > Connected Agents, select this connection, and read Can. A successful board lookup does not confirm permission to create content or generate images.
4. Turn your thoughts into a board
Start in a chat where you have shared what matters to you. For example:
I have a lot on my mind. I want to feel more confident at work, stop putting things off, and make time for myself. Ask me a few questions to understand what I need. Then suggest two Futurecast boards with five short futures each. Use simple words and write each future as an "I" statement in the present tense. Show me the board names and every future before saving anything. Do not create images.
Change the draft until the words feel right. Then send:
Create the boards and futures I approved in Futurecast. Keep my existing content. Do not create images or spend Visions. Tell me what is waiting to be added. Check the result after I open Futurecast.
Open Futurecast on your iPhone and leave it online. Changes can wait for your phone before they appear. Ask Claude to check their status. A change marked queued is still waiting. Applied means it was added.
Open your board under Boards and read it through. When you are ready, play the board or add futures to your Daily Ritual.
If you already have a personal development project
Open a chat inside that Claude project. Turn on Futurecast for that chat. Give Claude the notes you want it to use.
Project files and instructions help Claude across the project's chats. Do not assume a new chat has every detail from your other conversations. Add the key notes to the project's knowledge, or paste a summary into this chat. Claude's project context guide.
You can say:
Use the notes available in this project and what I share in this chat. Tell me which themes you are drawing from. Help me turn them into a Futurecast daily practice. Show me your proposed boards and futures first. Ask me for any context you are missing.
The connection sends the content you choose to Futurecast. It does not turn your whole Claude project into a Futurecast board automatically.
If something does not work
I cannot find Add custom connector. Check your account type and the setup steps above. A Team or Enterprise Owner must add it first. A Free account may already be using its one custom connector.
Claude asks for a client ID or secret. In the two-screen form, choose automatic registration under OAuth client. In the one-screen form, leave the optional advanced fields empty. Futurecast does not give you a shared secret to paste here.
The pairing code expired. Restart the connection from Claude to get a new code. Enter it in Futurecast within five minutes.
Claude can read but cannot create. Check the connection's Can section in Futurecast. Creating requires Write. If you need different permissions, disconnect and connect again. Your Claude organization can also restrict actions, even when Futurecast allows them. Claude's action restrictions.
Claude cannot find the tool. In the chat, check + > Connectors. If you have many connectors, open Tool access there. Auto is the normal starting point. Ask Claude to use Futurecast by name. Claude's tool access guide.
Claude says it sent my board, but I cannot see it. Open Futurecast online. Ask Claude to check the existing request's result before sending it again. This helps avoid duplicate boards.
I want to stop access. Disconnect the assistant in Futurecast. To remove its entry in Claude, open Customize > Connectors, find Futurecast, and use its remove option. Claude's connector removal steps.
