Choose and play your Daily Ritual

Your Daily Ritual is the group of futures you return to each day.

Your Daily Ritual is the group of futures you return to each day. A future is a short statement you can read or hear. A board groups futures around one topic.

You can use one board as your Daily Ritual. Or you can build a Custom Ritual, which is a set of futures you choose one by one.

Start

1. Tap Today at the bottom of the app.
2. Find the Daily Ritual card.
3. Tap Start, or tap the card.

The player opens. You can read each future, listen to available voices, or swipe up to move on.

After you play

Once you play at least one future, the card gives way to a page with a row of small cards. A ritual with five or fewer futures shows one card for each future. A longer ritual shows the first four and a +[number] card for the rest.

• Pick up where you left off: tap Continue to go on from the next future you have not played. Futures you have not played look dimmed.
• Done for today: tap Replay to practice again from the first future.

Tap a small card to open the ritual at that future. Tap +[number] to do what the page's main button does: Continue or Replay.

Tap the ... button at the top of this page for Customize Ritual and Choose Board....

The Daily Ritual card returns the next day.

If every future in your ritual is paused, Today shows Your ritual is paused instead of the card. Tap Resume to add those futures back to playback and practice today.

Use a board

1. Open Boards.
2. Open the board you want to practice each day.
3. Tap the three-dot menu at the top.
4. Tap Set as Daily Ritual.
5. Return to Today.

The Daily Ritual card shows Focused on and the board's name. That board now supplies your daily futures.

To switch boards from Today, tap Focused on [board name], then Switch Board. Choose another board. This option appears when there is another board to choose.

You can also press and hold the Daily Ritual card and choose Choose Board.... After you play, tap ... at the top of Today instead.

Return to a custom ritual

1. On Today, before you play, tap Focused on [board name].
2. Tap Switch to Custom Ritual, if shown.

Your saved Custom Ritual returns. The board stays in Boards.

If the menu says Stop Using for Daily Ritual, there is no saved Custom Ritual to restore. This stops using the board as your daily source. It does not delete the board. Choose a new source or add futures to a Custom Ritual next.

These choices can also appear in the selected board's three-dot menu.

Choose individual futures

Changing ritual membership yourself makes the ritual a Custom Ritual. It will no longer follow a selected board automatically.

To add a future from your library:

1. Open Boards, then All Futures.
2. Press and hold the future.
3. Tap Add to Ritual.

To remove it, use the same menu and tap Remove from Ritual. The future stays in All Futures and in its other boards.

Add several futures at once

1. Open Boards > All Futures.
2. Tap Select and choose the futures.
3. Tap the stacked-cards button with a plus at the bottom.
4. Find Daily Ritual in the board picker.
5. Tap its row to include the selected futures. A checkmark means all are included. A minus means only some are included.
6. Tap Done.

If the row already has a checkmark, tapping it removes those selected futures from the ritual. Check the result before leaving. These changes save as you make them.

Change a custom ritual

1. On Today, press and hold the Daily Ritual card. After you play, tap ... at the top of Today instead.
2. Tap Customize Ritual.
3. Add, remove, or reorder futures in the ritual screen.

If a saved Custom Ritual exists behind a selected board, this restores it for editing. Otherwise, the futures from the current daily board become the starting set for your Custom Ritual.

You can also open the custom ritual by tapping Focused on Custom Ritual.

Use organize your futures for adding and reordering steps.

When your ritual is empty, Pick futures yourself on Today opens a selection screen instead:

1. Tap the futures you want to add.
2. Tap Add 1 Future or Add [number] Futures.

Only futures not already in that set appear in this picker.

Add futures from several boards

Use Add from Boards to gather the current futures from one or more boards into your Custom Ritual. This adds those futures to your chosen set. It does not make the ritual follow several boards automatically.

1. Open Customize Ritual from Today, as in change a custom ritual.
2. Tap the + at the top of the ritual screen.
3. Tap Add from Boards.
4. Select the boards you want to include.
5. Check the number of new futures on the Add button.
6. Tap Add.

Futures already in the ritual are not added twice. If one was paused in your ritual, this adds it back to playback. That can happen even when the button says 0 new. Only futures included in each board's playback are gathered. You can reorder the resulting set afterward.

If the app says the ritual could not be updated, reopen it and check the set before trying again.

Leave a future out of playback

Pause from Loop keeps a future in a board but leaves it out when that board plays. Here, "loop" means the board's playing order.

1. Open the board or Custom Ritual.
2. Press and hold the future.
3. Tap Pause from Loop.

The future appears paused in that board. It is still saved.

To bring it back, tap the paused future, or press and hold it. Tap Add to Loop.

This choice applies to that board's membership. Remove from Board takes the future out of the board instead. Delete Future removes the future itself. See remove or delete futures before deleting anything.

Nothing to play

When your ritual has nothing to play, Today shows the next step. Follow the action shown:

• Create a board: start a board for one area of your life. Its futures become your ritual.
• Add a future: open the board named on Today. Tap Add Futures, then Write your own.
• Write one future or Write another future: add your first words.
• Write futures for me: open the board. Tap Add Futures, then Generate futures to get drafts based on your board's intention.
• Start from a ready-made board: open Boards, choose a ready-made board, and save your own copy.
• Choose: tap it beside a board to play that board each day. Add futures opens a board that has none yet.
• Pick futures yourself: choose saved futures one by one.
• Play them now: play your newest futures when they are not on a board yet.

If every future in a board is paused, open a paused future and use Add to Loop.

A whole board marked as paused can have a different cause, such as your plan's board limit. Read the message shown when you open it.

Keep practicing
