Use Siri and Shortcuts with Futurecast
You can start a practice or save a future without opening the app by hand.
You can start a practice or save a future without opening the app by hand. A shortcut is a quick way to run one action.
Start your daily ritual
Your daily ritual is the set of futures you have chosen to practice each day.
- Activate Siri on your iPhone.
- Say, "Start my ritual in Futurecast."
- Listen for Siri's reply.
Futurecast starts audio playback. Your ritual needs at least one future with a voice recording to play this way.
Play a board
A board is a group of futures. Use the name shown on your board.
- Activate Siri.
- Say, "Play [board name] in Futurecast."
- Choose the board if Siri asks.
The board needs at least one future with voice audio. If Siri names the wrong board, open Futurecast and choose the board there.
Save a future with your voice
- Activate Siri.
- Say, "Create a future in Futurecast."
- Say the words you want to save when Siri asks.
For example: "I speak with confidence."
This saves a text future. It does not record your spoken voice or create an image. You can add those later in Futurecast.
The shortcut also supports choosing a board. If that board is paused, Futurecast can save the future without adding it to that board. Read or listen to the result before repeating the request.
Organize futures
To add a saved future to a board:
- Say, "Add a future to a board in Futurecast."
- Choose the future when asked.
- Choose the board.
To remove it from one board:
- Say, "Remove a future from a board in Futurecast."
- Choose the future.
- Choose the board to remove it from.
Removing it from a board keeps the future in your library.
Use the Shortcuts app
- Open Apple's Shortcuts app.
- Go to the list that contains App Shortcuts. Use the back control at the upper left if needed.
- Choose Futurecast.
- Tap the action you want to run.
- Choose a board or future if asked.
Futurecast's shortcuts include Start Ritual, Play Board, New Future, Add to Board, and Remove from Board. Apple explains where to find App Shortcuts in its Shortcuts guide.
Use the Action button
On an iPhone with an Action button, you can assign a shortcut to that button.
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Open Action Button.
- Choose Shortcut.
- Choose the Futurecast shortcut you want to run.
Follow Apple's Action button guide for your iPhone. Choose any required board before using the shortcut hands-free.
Find a board with iPhone search
Search your iPhone for a board's name. If a Futurecast board result appears, tap it to open the board. Opening a board this way does not start playback.
If the result is missing, open Boards in Futurecast and find it there.
If a shortcut does not work
- Empty ritual or board: Add a future before playing.
- No voice audio: Add a voice to at least one future.
- Paused board: Open Futurecast and choose an active board.
- Still getting ready: Give the app a moment. If playback does not begin, open Futurecast.
- Another app is using audio: Finish the call or other audio activity. Open Futurecast if practice does not start afterward.
